Let me share with you a way of praying
daily that I have learned from John Piper that has been of incredible
value to me. Each day when you wake up pray these 4 short little prayers
from scripture and it will put your heart in the right place before God
for him to move in you. The acronym is easy to remember and always reminds
you that we owe everything we have to the Lord. This is a perfect way for
students to foster a habit of prayer in their life. Take it, adapt it, and
share it with your students and always remind them that you are praying
for them every day!
I. - Incline my heart to your testimonies. (Psalm 119:36)
Let my heart be set on what you have done and are doing in my life. Don't
let me be tempted by selfish gain, but help me to seek you first above all
O. - Open my eyes, that I may see wonderful things from your Word.
Help me to spend time in your word today and open my mind throughout the
day to remind me of great truths from your scripture. Allow it to be the
lamp that lights the way for me to walk intimately with you.
U. - Unite my heart to fear Your name. (Psalm 86:11)
Help my heart to not be divided and my life to not be compartmentalized. I
desire for my entire heart and body and life to follow after you in every
word, action, and situation I am in.
S. - Satisfy me in the morning with Your love. (Psalm 90:14)
May you be all that I need. Help me to find my satisfaction only in you
and not seek after money, possessions, relationships, or any other thing
to find worth and fulfillment. Thank you for your incredible for me.
